Has Your Business Had a Baseline Checkup Lately?

We establish baselines in all aspects of our lives. Doctors perform physicals on patients each year. Teachers give school-aged children “pretests” before they teach a new unit. Prior to beginning a diet or exercise program, we step on a scale or measure our waist, hips and arms to identify our exact weight and inches.

Then as we age, learn, lose weight or gain muscle, we can compare our progress to where we started. Developing a baseline gives us the hard facts we need to gauge development, stay motivated and achieve our goals.

You can establish a baseline for your business, too. It’s beneficial to understand how your business is performing, and you can accomplish this by completing the Organizational Checkup.

Organizational Checkup as a Baseline

The Organizational Checkup is a 20-question survey that you and your management team can take to assess the efficiency and structure of your business at the current time.

The tool asks participants to rate their business on a scale from one to five in the areas of core values, clarity of vision, and having the right people in the right “seats.” Answers are then scored, resulting in a percentage that reflects the current state of their company.

The Organizational Checkup is the very first tool I use before helping companies implement the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). It identifies where a business currently is and helps us measure our progress as EOS becomes their corporate way of life.

What is EOS?

EOS is a holistic management system with simple tools that help you do three things we call vision, traction, healthy. Vision from the standpoint of first getting your leaders 100% on the same page with where your organization is going. Traction from the standpoint of helping your leaders to become more disciplined and accountable, executing really well to achieve every part of your vision. Healthy meaning helping your leaders to become a healthy, functional, cohesive leadership team.
