The Importance of Level 10 Meetings

You and your employees look forward to departmental and staff meetings, right?

If you are like most people, the answer to that question is a resounding “No!”

I have a client who is a business owner, and during our 90 Minute Meeting, I asked how effective his meetings were. He said, “Zero – because I avoid meetings at all costs.” He felt meetings were a waste of time because “people talk a lot but nothing ever gets done.”

This is not an uncommon view of company meetings. Companies frequently call meetings; they make some plans and people agree to take action prior to the next meeting. But life happens, and they procrastinate until a couple of days before the upcoming meeting. Then there is a flurry of activity, and they create reasons why they couldn’t accomplish their assignment.

Enter The Level 10 Meeting™.

As an EOS® Implementer, we teach The Level 10 Meeting™ to every client during Focus Day, our first session. The Level 10 Meeting™ has five characteristics:

  1. Same day
  2. Same time
  3. Same agenda
  4. Starts on time
  5. Ends on time

Leadership Teams engaging in a weekly Level 10 Meeting™ keep the team members connected. The information flows up and down the company.

Practicing the five characteristics of The Level 10 Meeting™ respects everyone’s time. Initially Leadership Teams fight against a weekly meeting. But once they experience the magic of a meeting that moves their organization forward, they fight for the meetings. The meeting becomes their 90 minutes each week to work “on” the business.

What happened with my client who said he never has meetings? He now sees his team solving issues, achieving their Rocks, addressing execution problems before they become issues and driving toward their Core Focus every day. With a sheepish grin he now admits Leadership Team meetings can make a difference.
